McBroom's Standard Repair Procedure

  • The spindle assembly is completely disassembled and inspected
  • All bearings are replaced including precision class spindle bearings
  • All gears are checked for wear and cracks
  • All shafts are checked for straightness and all bearing journals repaired
  • The spindle itself is reground
  • Milling spindles have the taper and face reground to OEM specifications
  • Drawbars are rebuilt replacing all the clamping springs
  • If damage is irreparable, the spindle or spindle cartridge is replaced
  • Lathe spindles are checked for straightness and the taper is reground if necessary
  • Final assembly of the spindle is per the OEM specification noting proper runout, end play, etc.
